Ayelet Lalor is an award-winning Dublin based figurative artist. Born in 1974, she studied at Grennan Mills Craft School, Glasgow School of Art, and NCAD, graduating with a BA (1996), and MA(2009). With her roots in West Cork, Ayelet grew up in a diverse and artistic community, and feels it has shaped her work greatly. The form of the strong independent woman have been at the core of her figurative work for decades, often depicted as a Goddess, a Diva or similar proud figure, aloof, serene and calm, combined with strong decorative aspects of texture and colour. From establishing her ceramic studio in 1999, Ayelet has diversified from a primarily clay-based practice, to having a much broader mixed-media approach, working in clay, bronze, concrete, acrylic resin and found objects, and extending to portrait painting and print-making. Experimenting is an important part of her practise, always moving forward, and enjoying trying something new. Working solo, teaching classes and workshops, and being involved in community led projects has led to a more diversified approach in her own practise. Ayelet enjoys working with others, from response to reinterpretation of ideas, and where that can lead, the excitement of the unknown. Her work has been commissioned both publicly and privately, and collections include the OPW, The Irish Embassy in London, Mason, Hayes and Curren and Limerick City Gallery. She has exhibited at the RHA, the RUA, the National Museum of Ireland, Gormleys Fine Art, Sculpture in Context, the Philadelphia Museum of Art Crafts Fair, the RDS National Craft Awards, The Millcove Gallery and Farmleigh among numerous others, in Ireland and abroad
