Stories by Ola

My name is Ola and I'm the artist behind the Stories by Ola Ceramics brand. My ceramics journey began as a means of fulfilling a need for grounding. For me, working with hands is a process of meditation and mindfulness. During my ceramics journey, I tried different techniques and eventually, I settled for hand-building and casting as I find both work best with my form of expression and my aesthetics. The imperfectness of my work suggests them being handcrafted and brings to mind the uniqueness of nature's creations. My works are inspired by the beautiful Irish coastline. All of my pieces tell a story of the seaside, with its colours, textures and shapes. There is a visible contrast in my works. They are utilitarian and rough, yet they are artistic, almost painting-like in reception. My goal is to challenge the idea of what everyday items should look like, making them individual perfectly imperfect pieces of art.
